சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டங்களில் டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் வேகமாக பரவி வருவதால், அரசு போர்க்கால அடிப்படையில் டெங்கு தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என பொதுமக்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர். தமிழகத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மழை காலத்தில் இரட்டை இலக்க எண்ணிக்கையில் டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் இறப்பு ஏற்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்நிலையில், டெங்கு காய்ச்சல், வைரஸ் காய்ச்சல், மர்ம காய்ச்சல் ஆகியவை சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டங்களில் வேகமாக பரவி வருகிறது. திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து ஏராளமானோர் காய்ச்சல் காரணமாக சென்னையிலுள்ள அரசு மருத்துவமனைகளுக்கு சிகிச்சைக்காக பரிந்துரைத்து அனுப்பப்படுகின்றனர்.இதனால் அரசு, தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளில் காய்ச்சல் வார்டுகள் வேகமாக நிரம்பி வருகிறது. வழக்கமாக, மழைகாலம் தொடங்கிய பின்னரே டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் பாதிப்பு அதிகரிக்கும். ஆனால் இந்த ஆண்டு மழைகாலம் தொடங்குவதற்கு முன்பே ஆங்காங்கே மழை பெய்து தண்ணீர் தேங்கியுள்ளது. டெங்கு காய்ச்சலால் கடந்த மாத இறுதியில் மட்டும் 3 குழந்தைகள் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். அதேபோல் ஆயிரக்கணக்கானோர் காய்ச்சலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதால் மக்கள் பீதியடைந்துள்ளனர்‍.
சுகாதாரத்துறை அரசு துறைகளுடன் இணைந்து டெங்கு தடுப்பு, விழிப்புணர்வு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டால் மட்டுமே இந்த ஆண்டு டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் பாதிப்பால் ஏற்படும் இறப்புகளை கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியும் என்ற நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.
அரசு உடனடியாக போர்க்கால அடிப்படையில் முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கைகளை தொடங்க வேண்டும் என பொதுமக்களின் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர்‍.
